5 Reasons Why Italian Boys Stay With Their Mommas
By: Liz Flynn
Studies show that there are more Italian men in their thirties still living at home with their Mammas. Here are some of the main reasons why Italian bachelors choose to stay living with their mammas rather than making their way in life independently.
1. Family Values
The major reason commonly attributed to Italian men choosing to stay at home is the strong sense of family values in Italy. They enjoy the love, comfort, and security that their Mammas can provide.
2. Mommas Cooking
Food is at the heart of every family home and it is often the women of the family that take the leading roles in the kitchen. Italian men love their Mammas cooking so much that they dare not risk a situation of eating inferior food should they leave the nest.
3. Overprotective Moms
Stereotypically, Italian Mammas are extremely protective of their children. It is not always the man that doesn’t want to leave the family home; rather, it is the encouragement of his Mamma to stay put where she can keep an eye on him.
4. Independent Young Women
The roles of modern Italian women are evolving and this may contribute to the reluctance of Italian men to leave their Mammas. There is no longer an expectation that a woman will focus solely on becoming a wife and mother. Now, young Italian women are independent and ambitious.
5. The Cost Of Living
A serious reason why Italian men do not leave the family home is that they simply cannot afford to do so. The cost of living has risen so dramatically that staying with their Mammas is the only sensible and viable option open to many men.
